Top 5 ways YUKA helped me meal plan
I’ve always been health conscious, however it went to a new level when I had my son in 2020. I became obsessed with making sure I was providing him with nutritious options when he started eating solid foods. The beginning was easy because the options were simple like apples, green beans, and sweet potatoes. When he became a toddler and found out he had more options it immediately got complicated.
Similar to many toddlers, my son fell in love with French fries, chicken nuggets and pizza. I didn’t mind him enjoying these items in moderation but it bothered me that he wasn’t getting a balanced meal. I was also interested in having more healthy options for my husband and I as well. I did some research and came across the Yuka app and decided to give it a try. I can certainly say that it was a game changer for me! I started to use the app while I grocery shopped for my family and found it to be easy to use and convenient.
Here are my Top 5 ways Yuka helped me meal plan:
- Yuka shares nutrition information easily by scanning the barcode of the item. This allowed me to stick to diet restrictions that I set for myself and my family. For instance, if I had a low sodium diet. I would keep the sodium numbers in mind as I purchased my items. Gone are the days of not understanding what the nutrition label.
- Yuka provides better recommendation options for items that are considered “bad.” This was helpful because having alternatives that are good for me and my family are important.
- Saves time! We can all agree that time is NOT to be wasted in life. Yuka saves me time while I prep my grocery list for the week. It is also good for quick searches, while I am in the grocery store.
- Helped me avoid foods with additives and chemicals! I was actually shocked at how many of my regular food items had additives in them. These additives are extremely harmful and should not be consumed at any costs.
- Snack options for my toddler. My toddler loves snacks and fruit. The fruit is easy to prepare. However, I struggled with good snack options because everything is processed. Yuka made it easy to identify options that were rated good and kid friendly.
